It was introduced on the Single-Six, same size as Colt SAA, marked “XR3. Super Blackhawk Brass “Dragoon” style with square back trigger.
Went to the local gun show today and found this birdshead Single Six chambered in .32 H&R Magnum. This was just about the last thing I was looking for but I already have a pair of birdshead Vaquero's and thought it would be cool to add to collection, you know how it goes. Anyway the dealer threw in a box of ammo but most of what I shoot is cast so am now looking for reloading supplies including a good mold. Any suggestions on molds, powders etc? I've never loaded for anything so small so am curious what others are using.
Photos of the new addition with my Talo edition Vaqueros chambered in .45 Colt and .45 ACP.
What Are Some Advantages to Different Grip Designs for Ruger Revolvers?
Whether you are replacing a worn out grip or you want to upgrade the grip on your revolver, it can be hard to pick out what you want from the variety of options. Some of the things that you should consider in selecting the grip you plan to use include comfort and fit with respect to making sure your hand operating the trigger is correctly placed. Here are a few of the kinds of grips you can get for your handgun.
What Are Some Natural Materials That Pistol Grips Are Made Out Of?
Pistol grips are not just a practical part of any gun, they also provide a canvas for artistry on the part of the gun maker. It is a selling point of a revolvers that they have an attractive look when in your holster.
- Wood Grips - You can get a variety of grips using solid wood or wood laminate. One popular wood is rosewood. Whether you are upgrading for your Blackhawk or Vaquero revolver, you can find a pair using smooth laminate or Dymondwood grips that are made with a birch composite. Because rosewood is highly regulated, it is not practical to make grips with solid rosewood.
- Bone or Horn Grips - The horns of deer are also a common material. These have a more rugged look and are asymmetrical in the texture grooves between both sides. You can also find simulated bone.
- Pearl and Ivory Grips - While antique guns are likely to have decorative ivory grips, the use of this material is restricted because of conservation. You can still find plenty options using mother of pearl.
What Are Options for Synthetic Grips?
For more practical and technical grips, you can find many styles with practical attributes. For materials that you can no longer get like ivory, you can still get the look with a simulated ivory that is more durable than the natural material.
- Rubber and Plastic Grips - For a practical grip, you can get a recoil absorbing rubber grip for the Mark II pistol. It comes with wrap around ambidextrous finger groove.
- Simulated Ivory Grips - While you might not be able to get real ivory, you can get simulated ivory for your Mark III pistol. These are checkered grips with the Ruger logo. For your single action revolver, you can get a pair of bonded simulated ivory grips that fit the Single-Six, Single-Ten, Blackhawk, Vaquero, or Super Blackhawk revolver.
